  • Julian Assange is a whistleblower that has been imprisoned for years for accurate journalism by the United States and the United Kingdom. In January the New Progressive Alliance published his address and asked readers to write him encouraging letters. We need to evaluate who our real heroes are. • In January we published “The Democrats are Now the War Party - The Democratic Party has become the party of permanent war, fueling massive military spending which is hollowing out the country from the inside and flirting with nuclear war” by Chris Hedges. Both parties should be held accountable.

  • In February we published “The Progenitor of Inequalities—Corporate Personhood vs. Human Beings.” Corporations and citizens are not on an equal playing field.

  • In February we published “A neuroscientist explains why stupidity is an existential threat to America.” It is about the Dunning-Kruger effect which combined with tribalism pose very real threats. I see it on both the left and the right. I have no easy answers.

  • In March we published the two fine YouTube videos “How much land is needed for the US to be powered by wind & solar” and “Fossil fuels kill 9 million people every year. Why are we blind to the harms of oil & gas?” These two show both the effects of environmental destruction and the ease of going with renewable energy.

  • In April we published our NPA article on the environment which is continuously updated. Future generations will correctly regard the environment as the most important issue we faced. This article has over 2,500 references collected over the years and is being continually updated. It shows the science is settled and covers 21 different environmental aspects.

  • In May we published “Tax-Free Day for the Ultra-Wealthy.” There is increasing inequality in the United States.

  • In May we published “Air pollution from oil and gas production responsible for $77 billion in annual US health damages, study finds.” Far more than climate change is at stake.

  • In May we published “High speed trains are racing across the world. But not in America.” A nation that ignores its infrastructure cannot compete.

  • In May we published “Climate diplomacy is hopeless, says author of How to Blow Up a Pipeline.” Ignoring a problem and prosecuting environmentalists means increasing desperation and violence.

These two books illustrate the danger of ridiculing science and education.

·         In October we published a Juice Media video about with a conversation with David Suzuki and his activist daughter. The United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom all seem to have two major parties.

-The “Shit Party” which openly backs the fossil fuel monopoly with laws and subsidies.

-The “Shit Lite Party” which pretends to be environmentalist but secretly backs the fossil fuel monopoly with laws and subsidies.

This video shows both the danger we are in and illustrates successful local efforts for change.

  • In October we published the YouTube video “eBay violates Clean Air Act selling engine devices that cause cancer.” Many people are either profoundly stupid or deliberately choose evil.

  • In November we published our NPA article “Civil Rights” with over 690 references. We do not become a safer or stronger nation through civil rights violations. We all should be concerned about the ever increasing number of rights we are losing that this article documents.

·         In November we published the YouTube video “Mega Tesla battery in Australia helps shut down coal and gas power plants.” We have the means to transition to renewable energy right now for less than fossil fuel dependence.

  • In November we published the New Progressive Alliance Article “Continuing Middle East War Crimes.” Targeting civilians is wrong no matter who does it. War crimes are equally wrong if done by the United States as exposed by Julian Assange, by Israel, or by Hamas. Many believe it is a right based upon who is doing it.

·         The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative is a global effort to foster international cooperation to accelerate a transition to clean energy for everyone, end the expansion of coal, oil and gas, and equitably phase out existing production in keeping with what science shows is needed to address the climate crisis. • In November we published the two articles “Poverty in America Has Strong Structural Roots That Some People Profit From” and the NPA article “Poverty is Getting Worse” with over 300 references. Poverty is getting much worse thanks to the policies of both parties. All indications are that poverty is not only getting worse, it is approaching third world status in many areas. We can ill afford to ignore these dangers.

  • In November we published the two articles “Wind and solar break records in Australia; Coal hits lowest point in 100 years” and the NPA article “We can power with renewable energy right now” with over 415 references. There are no technical, scientific, or financial obstacles to going with 100% sustainable energy.

The New Progressive Alliance joined with other organizations and as an organization in special consultative status to the United Nations to influence COP 28. We urged the COP 28 to focus on a fossil fuel phase out along with renewable energy and energy efficiency targets. We were not nearly as successful as we hoped to be. In December we published “The Sad History of the United Nations COP Meetings on Climate Change.” There is a long history here.

  • In December we published “Has Climate Made Up With Labor? (and Other Messy Conversations).” Environmentalists are tired of being told to go to the back of the bus until all other issues are fully satisfied to all.

  • In December we published the YouTube video “Solar energy on track to destroy fossil fuels as world passes ‘tipping point.’ We have the technology for sustainable energy right now.

  • As we closed out 2023 Annual Report we wish all a happy progressive 2024!
