The answer is not natural gas obtained by fracking. It is both polluting and expensive. It is certainly not a “bridge fuel” to renewable energy.

Among the false solutions are natural gas, "clean" coal, nuclear, geo-engineering, hydrogen, and "carbon capture" or pulling carbon dioxide out of the air. All are designed to allow fossil fuel companies to keep polluting with the false expectation that a mythical mystery solution will save us all so we don't have to take any action now.

While Trump and the republicans deserve no praise (see Beware the Trump Administration), that should not obscure the fact that the democrats have been disastrous for the environment. For the environment Biden has appointed Kerry to fight who said needed technology has not been invented yet (utter nonsense!), not changed massive fossil fuel subsidies at all, expanded fossil fuel drilling  far beyond what even Trump proposed, is unaware or dishonest in talking about electric vehicles, and regards global warming as just one of many minor considerations he has to make token gestures for. The environment is different from other issues. While other areas can be corrected for future generations, there is a strong and growing consensus among scientists that if we reach certain tipping points, there is no turning back. Future generations will judge us very harshly.
