2020 Annual Report
- The New Progressive Alliance (NPA) continued to expand our organizational outreach and is now allied with 65 other national and international organizations. All allies are listed with internet addresses on our website.
- Publishing in social media means publishing a reference in Facebook at the New Progressive Alliance, Leftist Third Party and Independent Candidates, Green Party Discussion, and Truth Bomb Activists. Because of problems with privacy and censorship on Facebook, we also publish on Twitter, MeWe, and Ilkmade.
- In January the NPA published Stanford University’s “100% Clean Energy Vision” which shows what 100% renewable energy could look like in countries, cities, and U.S. states in the year 2050. The report is based upon demonstrated technology and demonstrated results from using that technology.
- In January the New Progressive Alliance in Public Comment 224 joined many other individuals in urging the Security and Exchange Commission not to blindly back corporate power by restricting shareholders from making comments. He has consistently worked for specific needed educational reforms. The reason the New Progressive Alliance is so enthusiastic about Doug Mann's candidacy for the Minneapolis School Board is because these issues are national issues and reflected in our Unified Platform.

- In June we published a reference to a book that really struck a chord with me. The book is "Common Sense for the 21st Century: Only Nonviolent Rebellion Can Now Stop Climate Breakdown and Social Collapse" by Roger Hallam. We listed it in Make Your Case under "2. Make your case with books, articles, and documentaries." What can we all do to avert catastrophe and avoid extinction? In Common Sense for the 21st Century, Roger Hallam, cofounder of Extinction Rebellion, outlines how movements around the world need to come together now to start doing what works: engaging in mass civil disobedience to make real change happen. The book gives people the tools to understand not only why mass disruption, mass arrests, and mass sacrifice are necessary but also details how to carry out acts of civil disobedience effectively, respectfully and nonviolently. It bypasses contemporary political theory, and instead is inspired by Thomas Paine, the pragmatic 18th-century revolutionary whose pamphlet Common Sense sparked the American Revolution. Common Sense for the 21st Century urges us to confront the truth about climate change and argues forcefully that only a revolution of society and the state, similar to the turn that Paine urged the Americans to take into the political unknown, can save us now.

- In June we stopped posting in MeWe because of technical difficulties.

- In June the New Progressive Alliance welcomes Extinction Rebellion as an ally. Extinction Rebellion believes because of climate change we face floods, wildfires, extreme weather, crop failure, mass displacement and the breakdown of society. The time for denial is over. It is time to act. Conventional approaches of voting, lobbying, petitions and protest have failed because powerful political and economic interests prevent change. Our strategy is therefore one of non-violent, disruptive civil disobedience – a rebellion. All New Progressive Alliance allies and connections to their websites are listed here: http://www.newprogs.org/allies

- Facebook’s Evil Hypocrisy and Censorship:
On the Facebook page “Leftist Third Parties and Independent Candidates” a member posted an article correctly telling how Obama’s signing of NDAA allowing for indefinite detention without trial paved the way for our current situation. (It was signed on New Year’s Eve to avoid attention.)
Facebook then quoted Politifact saying “No, Obama did not sign a law allowing protesters to be snatched off the streets.” They then took off the article as false and threatened us if we kept posting “false” articles.
Contrast this with Facebook’s allowing climate change denialists to openly and brazenly lie on Facebook without consequence. Contrast also with the amount of money Facebook spends on lobbyists. (We documented with two references.)
The New Progressive Alliance has too large a following to just quit Facebook. Because of problems with privacy and censorship on Facebook, we publish on several Facebook pages (many targets to censor instead of just one) and we also publish on Twitter.
