Kenneth Kendrick, a food safety advocate who blew the whistle on unsanitary conditions at a processing facility of the former Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) and is running for Texas Agriculture Commissioner, has endorsed the Unified Platform.

It was Kendrick who, while a manager at PCA, warned the company of the potential for contamination of its products. His warning went unheeded, and a salmonella outbreak in 2008 eventually killed nine and sickened more than 700 people across the country. Former PCA honchos face trial on federal criminal charges this summer.
